I goOgle when I'm bored

Hi there,

Well, I promised to blog more often and I am trying my best to stay true to my word.

I don't really have an inspiration for today's post. All I did tonight was google arb stuff.

I cam across a few pics I liked and thought I'd put them together for you guys...

Here goes:

Mr Price

Hi there,

I don't know about you, but I am a big fan of Mr Price. I find them fashion forward at a great price. I tend to buy my seasonal things from them or even the statement pieces. I love their jewellery, their mullet styled tops, lightweight blazers, etc.

I bought my first mullet styled skirt from them last year before YDE and the rest had them in stock. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Project ranges. Fun and Fresh. You'd think Mr Price is paying me for this right? No. Not even a voucher hahaha!

Coming to the reason for my post... yes, there is one.

Last year my sweet husband bought me a pair of mary-jane's for my bday. I loved them, but felt that the quality wasn't that great for the price. (R699). I later exchanged them for Iron Fists...

Today I walked into Mr Price and found those shoes doppelgangers at a fraction of the price (R159)

Mall World vs Stephane Rolland

Hi there my people,

I realize that I've been a little too quiet, but hopefully I am back!

Everyone that knows me knows that I quite enjoy playing Mall World on FB... okay, a lottttt. I know it sounds lame, but I enjoy the fashion as it's very current.

I did a post on Stephane Rolland's latest range a while back and lo and behold, it's featured on Mall World (chuffed).

Meet my little avatar below.

Munch

So we went to Walmer Park Shopping Centre and decided to have brunch at Munch! I've had cake from them before, but nothing else.

I like their menu, it's different from what the other coffee shops have to offer and the service was great!

Bad pics to follow, brace yourself ;)

The sign reads as follows: But most of all it's in the people and their sense of wonder for they get their fill to eat but never lose their hunger.
I had the Goldilocks (toasted ciabatta, creamy scrambled eggs, salmon and cottage cheese) and a red cappucino iced tea

Stripes and Leopard Print

I need to start using my camera. I'm just so lazy so I opt for using my Blackberry. Give me time, I'll come around.

My nephew, Taariq

Today I bought my nephew a denim shirt from Mr Price and he was convinced that it's a girl's shirt. I had to show him a Truworths man catalogue with a guy wearing a denim shirt to convince him. He still wasn't convinced. Anyway, this inspired the pics to follow along with the interview.

"First of all, i do not have a favourite teacher. Most of the teachers make the class do like punishments. One of the teachers is like a fitness guy so he gives us an exercise that works our abs. (Natural Sciences). My favourite thing at school is that I get to play Chess during breaks. My favourite subjects are Social Science and Technology. Maths is easy so it doesn’t count.

Outside of school I attend madressa and I am in Qur’aan. We also learn to write in arabic. I can write my name, aunty Salama’s name, etc.

After madressa on Tuesdays and Thursdays I attend kickboxing. On Tuesdays we have extra classes. We learn how to grapple, like fight on the floor. We work on our fitness and we’re going to attend a few tournaments this year that includes grading where you go into different belts. I started last year in Aug and I am a yellow belt and I’m going to be orange soon.

I have many different books that I like reading. It’s like I have my own library. My favourite author is Roald Dahl. I also like the Famous 5, Wereworlds, The BFG, The Twits, etc.

I have a PSP and my favourite games are Need for Speed Shift, Pro Street, Carbon and Harry Potter.

On the PS3 my favourite games are Midnight Club and Heavenly Sword. I also like  Assassins creed, but my uncle won’t let me play it. On the Move my favourite games are Michael Jackson The Experience, Band Hero especially the guitar.

Top 5 favourite things!

Chocolate
Ice-cream, especially chocolate flavoured
Chocolate milkshake
Chocolate Cake
Carrots"

And that’s my nephew Taariq! He is 11 years old and trying to redeem himself with that carrot as a favourite thing. He’s never asked me for a carrot, lol! Kids today.

Heart him***

Natasha Meister

Singer/songwriter, Natasha Meister has become our very own Blues Queen in the 2 short years since returning from Canada to her ancestral home in Africa. At only 20, she has made a huge impact on discerning SA audiences, especially in the blues/funk niche. Natasha has a great bluesey, Motown voice, plays phenomenal electric and acoustic guitar and is a gifted songwriter.
Natasha Meister was featured on Espresso on the 19th of Jan this year. I was in the shower when I heard her singing, “This desire”. I jumped right out so that I could listen properly and find out who the artist was. I loved the track so I went to YouTube and streamed everything I could find.
The following day I called Musica, Look & Listen, etc trying to find the CD, but to no avail.
I then searched for her online and came across her website (www.natashameister.com) I proceeded to send an email trying to get her CD. Not only did I get a reply, but she replied herself. *chuffed*
She was very down-to-earth and friendly via email. She agreed to post the CD to me after I made the payment. (R150 including postage).

I love getting things in the mail!*
The CD features 11 songs including a bonus track. All original material and she’s truly brilliant.

I then took a chance and asked her to answer a few questions for my blog and she agreed. *big to0thy grin*
Here goes!

1. Who has been your biggest musical influence?
I couldn't just say one in particular..but I will definitely say a lot of the great blues legends such as B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Stevie Wonder, Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi..as well as more modern artists like John Mayer, Norah Jones, Adele, and the late Amy Winehouse.
2. How old were you when you started playing the guitar?
I started playing guitar at the age of 13..that's when my dad bought me my first acoustic.
3. What inspired “This desire”?
"This Desire" is a song of mine that was inspired by a long distance relationship that I was in when I first moved to SA. I knew that it wasn't going to work out but I felt like I couldn't let go..but writing that song helped me to do just that. I think a lot people can relate to it and have probably gone through something similar.
4. If you weren’t performing, what else would you have liked to do?
If I wasn't performing and doing music full time as my career, I have no idea what I'd be doing! I would probably give singing lessons or guitar lessons - it would still have to involve music in someway - I'm very passionate about music!
5. How would you describe your personal style?
I don't have much style lol!..at least I don't think so. But I suppose I would describe it as a "simple girl blues" look. I love my boots and belts and blue jeans..with my hair all down and loose.
6. Do you and your band have any plans to do promo shows in Port Elizabeth?
No shows planned in Port Elizabeth yet..but that's something we want to make happen in the near future.
7. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Hmmm, best piece of advice I've ever been given..my grandmother always used to tell me, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try again."..that's something I think everyone should live by.
8. What was it like doing a collaboration with Locnville?
Locnville are cool guys..they're just like normal people once you get to know them..so it was cool to hang out and record a track with them that's off they're latest album "Running To Midnight" and the track I'm on is called "Staring At The World Outside" - it's very different from what I'm used to, but it was tons of fun!
9. What do you do for fun other than music?
I like to hang out with friends, watch movies, go to the beach, take long drives, play tennis, go for walks.
10. What are your favourite places in Cape Town?
V&A Waterfront, Kirstenbosch Gardens, being on top of Table Mountain :)
